Dear esteemed members,
As we step into the blooming month of April, I would like to extend warm greetings to each of you. It’s an exciting time for our community as we embrace the changing seasons and look forward to Earth Week. I welcome you to consider joining our Local Section in giving back to our community by participating in the annual Creek to Bay Cleanup hosted by I Love a Clean San Diego, on April 20. Many times, planned events can result in the generation of much waste, so I am eager to promote an activity where we can give back to our beautiful surroundings. You can register to participate in any of our two events: Chula Vista-Otay Valley Regional Park or Mission Valley-San Diego River.
Reflecting on the past month, I’d like to take a moment to highlight some key moments that were a pleasure to experience through engaging with our community:
- If you joined us at this year’s Super STEM Saturday at CSU San Marcos, I hope you had a wonderful time! Complimentary to the excellent weather, I had a wonderful time engaging with some of our student members, checking out their experiment demos, and seeing the joy on so many young scientists’ faces. I’d especially like to highlight the contributions and hard work of Jackie Trischman and Juan Gonzalez from our Executive Committee in making this event the biggest Super STEM Saturday yet!
- Sincere congratulations to the winners of the Greater San Diego Science and Engineering Fair. Your stellar presentations will carry you far in your professional career path, and I appreciate Jim Shih in his continuous efforts to see the event return next year.
In closing, I want to express my gratitude to each of you for your unwavering commitment and dedication. It’s your passion, enthusiasm, and engagement that make our community vibrant and resilient.
Warm regards,
Christina Vialva
